7 Simple 100W Inverter using 4047

This circuit is a simple 12V to 220V DC-AC inverter using 4047 IC. you can adjust the frequency by adjusting the potentiometer.
inverter schematic
2N3055 pinout
CS9013, 2N4401 pinout
Part List:
R1, R2 - 560 ohms 1/2W
Q1, Q2 - 9013, 2N4401, or similar NPN transistor
Q3, Q4 - 2N3055 or similar NPN Power transistor
IC - CMOS 4047 monostable/astable multivibrator
C1 - 100nF
POT - 220 kilo ohms potentiometer
F - 10A fuse
TR - reverse 220V to 10V center tap transformer 100VA rated

Other inverter circuits:
Modified sine wave inverter - cheap and high power
15W fluorescent inverter - can be use even in defective tube
20W inverter - inverter using only two transistor

Note: The circuit output is high voltage and can cause electrocution. Do not build this inverter if you have little or no idea in electrical engineering.

  2. Try testing the output of the IC. Try placing led at pins 10 and 11. If the LEDs will light, the circuit should be working.

  3. I have tried the circuit in my college lab. It's o/p is limited to 100W.It's Ok.
But may we connect it with 200W load by replacing the transformer with 220VA? As I am testing at college lab so it wiil be very risky to take such steps without expert views. Mr.DH-gm your kind advice needed.Thank You!

  4. The maximum power of the circuit is limited to 100W only. The inverter as a whole is rated 100W only and replacing the transformer with higher capacity is good but does not increase its capacity.
If you force to load more than 100W to the inverter, the fuse will burn out. For your protection, don't replace the fuse with much higher value or else you fry the entire circuit.

  5. No....Mr. DH-gm you can modify the circuit so easily if you have designed yourself..
It is possible to deliver upto 220VA very easily with this circuit just by replacing 1 component. I have tried it in my lab and succeed. If you want something different you should modify the old one.So, replacing the fuse value is totally Safe.Thank you for your earlier suggestion.

I'M BEGINNER IN ELECTRONICS WITH SOME ELECTRICAL KNOWLEDGE IN MAINTENANCE OF HIGH VOLTAGE MACHINES.WHEN I INTENDED TO BUILD AN INVERTER FOR 3*25W CFL LAMPS I FOUND YOUR CIRCUIT.CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS CKT.I'VE TO BUILD INVERTER WHOLLY WITH THE HELP OF THIS CKT.

    THANKS
