24 3V electronic stun gun circuit

stun gun schematc
This circuit above is a cheap version stun gun circuit that is powered by two AA baterry. The output of this electronic project is about 350V dc.
The heart of the circuit is the oscillator that is composed of Windings and transistor.

Part List:
Transistor - Tip41 or similar
Resistor - 100-ohms 1W
Capacitor-100nF
C-1.2uF 1000V or any cap with 1000V rating
D-1N4007 diode or similar

Primary and Feedback winding

TIP41 pins

Primary winding P is composed of 16 turns of #24 AWG wire, feedback F is composed of 8 turns of #24 AWG wire, and secondary winding S is composed of 270 turns of #30 AWG magnetic wire. P1 is connected to the collector of transistor, F2 to the 100-ohms resistor at transistor base. F1 and P2 to the battery. The output of Sec winding is rectified by Diode Bridge. The output capacitor is an electrolytic type that is rated 400V above. Capacitance of the output capacitor depends on what available on hand, but always keep in mind that the higher the value the better. this simple electronic project is dangerous when accidentally touched, thus avoid holding the output and discharge the capacitor before and after using.
One of the uses of this circuit is the camera flasher circuit.

  3. What are the code numbers of capacitor and diode.

  4. use any electrolytic capacitor 1000V rated, and diode is 1N4007 of similar type with atleast 1000V reverse voltage breakdown.

  5. Why F2 must be connected to 100 ohm resistor, not to the collector of the transistor?

Or is it is possible to interchange the connection of P1 & F2?

  6. F2 (F is has fewer windings) is connected to the resistor and P1 to the collector. Actually you can modify the circuit and let the windings of F and P equal, in that case you can interchange F2 to P1.

  7. Why must it be #24 AWG wire for primary coil, and #30 AWG wire for secondary coil?

Why cant I use a plain single core wire instead? Regardless the size of the wire.

Or maybe it's better to have a wire as thick as possible?

  8. You can use plain #24 or plain #30AWG. In our design #24 is the primary because it carries larger current compared to #30AWG secondary. Another is secondary winding has more wingdings thus smaller diameter is used so we can make it very small.
You can use plane #24AWG on both primary and secondary.

  9. Is it possible to remove the Capacitor at the output?

Because even when it is off, the capacitor stores charge, and the output will still cause some shock, when you touch it.

So is it safe, if I remove it?

  10. Just wanted to say i have been looking at stungun sites yours is simple but the best one i can understaind :P

  11. you can remove the capacitor but you are also removing the "sting" effect of the stun gun. The output capacitor purpose is to store some electrical charge to provide some "kick" or shock

  12. Can ferrite core e type from old cfl lamp be used to wind the coil and would it effect output voltage or should i make other calculation for that specific type of core. I really cant find any other kind, and also its not so bulky so whole project would be relatively small.

  13. I believe ferrite would actually be ideal

  14. sir, actually i don't know about transistor winding. what is the winding i want to wind first. (P,F or Secondary)

  15. How to calculate primary winding

  16. how to check whether its working or not?

  17. A guy could tie an octo couple or relay between switch and output capacitor to fully deactivate output when switch is not being pressed. Just a thpught

  18. Where can I buy the Ferrit U Core?
It's a U core I presume right? Can anyone link me with the core I need to build this circuit please?
    Thanks!
